Here's a special message from Paul:

Dear Parents,

I wanted to send out this message to let you know how much we would love to have your kids at Kids Camp this year.  As a parent I know it can be very difficult to let your children go for several reasons. My wife and I have often discussed that camp presents some challenging concerns we face as parents.  For instance swimming and all of the potential hazards, adult supervision (can we trust the teens and adults?), and the van ride.  Not to mention if your child has any hesitation or fears of being away from home, bed wetting, difficult relationships with other kids, sleep walking etc.

Understandably it can be easier just to keep them home to alleviate the pressures and fears – theirs and ours.   I want to acknowledge that these are valid concerns and as parents we should be aware and actively taking steps to keep our kids safe.  At the same time God has called us to push them (and ourselves) to let them go and trust that God will be with them.  Ultimately it’s the balance of both – safety and trust because one without the other leads to dysfunction.  That said I want encourage you to send your kids to camp!  Why?  Because we study the bible, memorize scripture, worship God together, make memories that last a lifetime, make new friends, strengthen current friendships and have a ton of fun.  I could go on but this email is already long enough.  If you have any questions or concerns please talk to me about it.  That includes financial difficulties or otherwise.

Here are just some of the processes that we have in place to reduce any foreseeable risks associated with camp:
  1. Each cabin is made up of four to six kids, with two counselors (one senior adult counselor and one junior counselor 16 years or over).
  2. Every counselor, leader and staff member over 18 is background checked, fingerprinted and interviewed.
  3. Drivers of the 15 passenger vans have class B driver’s license with a passenger endorsement.
  4. We have a certified lifeguard on duty for all swimming activities.
  5. All children must pass a strict swimming test to go beyond the roped-off knee-deep water.  There’s also plenty to do on shore for the non-swimmers.
  6. We have a certified EMT who will be on site the entire the camp.
  7. We have 5 certified nurturing moms who will be at camp and ready to handle any bedwetting issue and or homesick kids.
  8. We have 1 certified County Deputy Sheriff.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email.

 Paul
